Edmonton is one of 7 municipalities in Canada with a rail transit system. For decades it has been a single line, extending from the NE to the SW of the city.
Starting in 2015, an aggressive expansion of the system was started. There are now 2 major lines, the original Capital Line and the Valley line which crosses from the SE towards the NW.
Expansion is planned for 3 more lines, as well as expansion of the 2 current lines as the city expands.
